How Bed Buddy works

Instead of replacing a familiar home bed with a bulky hospital bed, Bed Buddy adds a padded support platform on top of the mattress you already use. The backrest is raised and lowered by an electric actuator, so no lifting or propping is needed to sit someone up.

No. The Bed Buddy system is designed to sit on top of the existing mattress. You keep the bed and mattress already in the room.
Is Bed Buddy a hospital bed?
It is a padded home-care support platform rather than a replacement hospital-bed frame. It sits on the existing mattress — with an electric backrest — so the room keeps its familiar home setting.
Is Bed Buddy an electric bed?
The backrest is electric: it lifts and lowers at the touch of a button, driven by an actuator and control box. The leg section is adjusted by hand. So it is not a fully electric bed in the way a hospital bed is — you get powered backrest positioning while keeping the bed you already own.
What happens during load shedding or a power outage?
Battery backup is built in, so load shedding or a power outage does not stop the backrest working. Ask about the exact supplied battery and expected backup time for the unit you are renting or buying.
